Paneer bhurji – An easy quick cottage cheese side dish that can be prepared in a jiffy, is nutritious, yummy, and loved by all. You can pack this with paratha in your office lunch box or kid’s school lunch box.
It makes for a yum healthy breakfast also. You can enjoy this with bread and a cup of tea. Paneer is a good source of Calcium and Protein and my kids are simply crazy for it. They love paneer Butter Masala, Chilli Paneer, Malai Kofta, Paneer Jalfrezi, and of course Paneer Bhurji.
How to make Paneer Bhurji
Preparation time: 10 minutes
cooking time: 10 minutes
serves 4
Ingredients:
250 grams crumbled Paneer ( cottage cheese)
2 tbsp oil/ ghee
1 onion finely chopped
½ capsicum cubed or cut into thin strips
1 tomato deseeded and finely chopped
1 tsp green chili chopped
salt to taste
¼ tsp Haldi (turmeric powder)
½ tsp red chili powder
¼ tsp Chaat masala or lemon juice
¼ tsp garam masala
chopped coriander leaves for garnish
To make Paneer Bhurji
Heat oil in a pan. Add onions, capsicum and green chilies and Saute for a minute till onions are translucent. Now add tomatoes and cook on a slow flame for 2-3 minutes till soft. Keep on stirring continuously.
Add salt, red chili powder, turmeric, garam masala, and chaat masala and cook for 30 seconds. If you are using lemon juice add that just before serving dish.
Add crumbled paneer and give it a good stir. Cover the pan with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes. Don’t overcook bhurji after adding Paneer as it becomes hard and chewy.
Switch off the flame. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
serve hot with Roti, paratha, or Bread.
Note:
1. Don’t overcook bhurji after adding Paneer as it becomes hard and chewy.
2. If you are using lemon juice in place of chaat masala add that just before serving dish.
