welcome to what’s cooking Mom, Vegetarian food blog.
I am Nidhi Jain. I am an architect by profession, now a stay at home mom to two energetic boys. I love to cook and try new recipes. I’ve started this blog with the help of my husband Axat, to share and explore new vegetarian recipes which are not only delicious but are also healthy. Most of these dishes are easy to prepare and are made from locally easily available ingredients.
Like all mothers, I try to feed my kids some healthy food but they don’t like to eat vegetables. So I have developed innovative recipes that are loaded with veggies and the best part is my kids still love them. My focus will be on cooking for children and I will post photos, simple instructions, and some tips. Since I am a vegetarian, all the recipes on this blog will be vegetarian( i do not even use egg or gelatin).
This intro will be incomplete without mention of my husband, Axat, who not only motivated me to start this blog but also helped in setting this up, reviewing the recipes, and suggesting healthy twists to recipes.
Also, my kids deserve to be mentioned as they have to taste all the food I cook and approve it. This blog is not only about recipes but also about sharing beautiful experiences of my life, family, and cooking.
They are also my Hand Models 🙂
I have learned a lot in the kitchen from my mother and Mother-in-law who both happen to be great cooks. Not to forget sisters, cousins, sisters-in-law, and Aunts who have helped in my learning process. I am blessed to be born into a family of good cooks.
I was not much of a cook before marriage but after marriage, I developed a taste for it. my husband is also very fond of cooking. Generally, our Sunday afternoons are spent in the kitchen preparing lunch. Kids also contribute in every way possible. I have one message for all the new cooks out there. Don’t give up. Just because some of your attempts have failed does not mean you will never get the dish right. Put your heart in cooking, enjoy it and it will be reflected in your cooking. Cooking is a practical subject. It can be learned only in the kitchen.
Most of the photographs on the blog have been taken by me, some by Axat and a few step photos by my son who is always eager to help me if my hands are not free.

Hi Nidhi,
I got to know about this blog today only thru your husband. Axat and myself studied together in Roorkee. I really loved this blog and am going to follow it regularly. Being a vegetarian myself, the recipes interest me more. Your food looks very tasty. The way you have presented the recipes is also very nice and informative. I have not seen any food blog which shows images of the stages of preparations. Now that I have seen this blog I will keep trying these dishes and try to impress my wife and friends. I shall take all the credit on your behalf. 🙂
Next time when I am in India, we shall make a trip to Jaipur and shall make a point a point to taste as many dishes as possible.
All the best!!!

My Experiments & Food
Hi Nidhi,
I stumbled upon your blog today through Google and I am so glad that I did. Love your recipes and the fact that they are simple. Many of your recipes are the ones I grew up with or are similar to those I make. I have “pinned” a few of your recipes and will surely try them.
The best thing I liked is that your recipes are kid friendly. I used to blog but have not been active since I became a Mom. And now that my daughter is nearly 2 yo, she is clearly turning out to be a “fussy eater”. Hope to try some of your recipes:)
Will keep visiting!

Hi Bhabhi
I am not sure about my childhood and the problems our mom had to face to make us eat our veggies, but even now we (me & abhishek) get bored of the regular food and love to cook and try new recipes. I recently came to know about this blog but last weekend I was googling for some recipes and came across this page.
The vegetable pie seemed familiar cos I took the recipe from you before. I never looked for the chef’s name though 😛 But now that I know, I am definitely going to check your blog and look for new recipes….Good luck and have fun cooking…..
Take Care
Swati
Nidhi
Thanks for the encouragement Swati didi. I am glad that you liked the recipes and i will try to post more recipes which are not only healthy but also appealing to foodies like you and me.
Axat Jain
Hi Nidhi,
Its nice that you are cooking sumptuous dishes for your blog and posting new recipes actively. I get to eat these delicious new foods everyday so I can say that they taste as delicious as they look.
Yours

HI Nidhi!
What a wonderful job you have done to help the harassed mothers. This is simply amazing & unbelievable that a person who as a child was herself so choosy about food, can after growing up become an adviser for the same problem. I wish there was such a site during the childhood of my offsprings.
Any way keep it up. My good wishes for the success of your mission.
Love
—Papa–
Nidhi
Thanks Papa. This is the best part. I have seen both sides of the mirror. i know how a kid feels when they are forced to eat vegetables and i also know how mothers try desperately to feed their kids. so in this blog i have combined both experiences of my life to work out a solution. glad you liked it.
Nidhi.
