Roti Pizza or leftover chapati Pizza – Ever since I have started making this Roti Pizza I have not bought pizza base at home or even baked one at home. What is the need?
Whenever kids want to eat pizza they say mummy make roti pizza or quesadilla. As I make both with whole wheat roti I do not feel guilty about feeding kids fast food.
We all want to reduce maida/plain flour from our daily diet but with kids growing taste in fast food it is becoming tougher.
If we can replace the plain flour with whole wheat flour in some of the recipes then there is no harm in indulging kids.
Even my mother in law who is very particular about diet liked this roti pizza idea.
Special thanks to my son who not only helped me in making these leftover chapati pizzas but also took most of the photos.
As it was Saturday and he was at home he helped me in baking, grated cheese, and even bought cheese from the market.
Luckily both my kids like cooking and helping in the kitchen. They must take after their father because I was definitely not like this when I was a kid 😉
To make Roti Pizza
Preheat the oven at 180 C for 15 minutes.
Chop Onions, tomato, and Capsicum and add salt, pepper, oregano, parsley, and chaat masala to them.
Make rotis regular way. Do not apply ghee on it.
I generally make rotis beforehand and keep them in a casserole. Then I bake them one by one.
Apply cheese spread.
Apply some homemade pizza sauce.
Add vegetables. Mix everything mentioned under for vegetables. Divide into 8 portions.
You can increase or decrease vegetables according to your taste.
Spread a layer of mozzarella cheese on top. Bake for 7-8 minutes. Mine was ready at this time. Rotis were crisp and cheese was all melted.
Serve hot 🙂

What a clever idea. Pizza looks yummy too
HaHa, Karan. Thanks 🙂
Nidhi we tried these. Pizza came out really good. Thanks for the recipe
You are welcome Satish 🙂
Can I use plain roti dough and bake for a longer time? I.e. without making the chapati ahead?
I have not tried it, Leena. But without yeast, I am not sure the result will be that good. if you try please let me know how it turned out
Hi!…the pizza has to be cooked at what temperature? Also is it doable in a convection microwave?…thanks!
Hello, Shri. Sorry for the late reply. Pizza has to be baked at 180 C. I have not made in convection microwave but there should be no problem. use the same process as you would use for pizza
How u prepared homemade pizza sauce, please advise
saute 2 onion and 2 cloves of garlic in olive oil for 2 -3 minutes. Add tomato puree (from 4 tomatoes), salt, black pepper powder and red chili powder. when it is cooked add a tsp of sugar and 1/2 tsp oregano. cook for 1 more minute. And your sauce is ready 🙂
How thick the roti should be made? I guess it can not be made paper thin. Please elaborate little on the dough of roti. Do you add salt/oil in the dough of the roti? Thanks.
Hi Radhika. I have made regular roti not too thick or thin. I do not add salt or oil to the dough to make roti but you can add a little salt if that is how you like it.
I have never baked anything as of now. I like pizza a lot and I would like to try this receipe. I just want to know when to add salt, black pepper, chat masala, oregano and parsely. Is it in roti dough or just sprinkle along with cheese spread, suace and vegetables? Sorry if my question is silly and dumb.
you have to add all these spices to the cut vegetables and mix. Thanks for pointing out I will make it clear in recipe too.
Do let me know if you want to ask something else.
Thanks Nidhi. I tried them and came out well. My hubby liked them a lot. Now no more trips to pizza hut :).
So glad to hear that Archana 🙂
